Πανελλήνιο Πρωτάθλημα Φουσκωτών Σκαφών Viper Ribs 2011 - Αθήνα /Hellenic Viper Ribs Championship 2011 -Athens

Η τέταρτη και τελευταία αγωνιστική του Πανελληνίου Πρωταθλήματος Φουσκωτών Σκαφών Viper Ribs 2011 διεξήχθει επιτυχώς στην Αθήνα (Νέα Μάκρη) το Σαββατοκύριακο της 1ης και 2ης Οκτωβρίου. Αυτοί οι αγώνες έδιναν την τελευταία ευκαιρία για κάθε συναγωνιζόμενο πλήρωμα είτε να αναβαθμίσει είτε να διατηρήσει την θέση του στο Πρωτάθλημα πετυχαίνοντας μια νίκη στο συγκεκριμένο συμβάν. Αυτό διέγειρε την αγωνία και έτσι προσήλθα για να δω ιδίοις όμασι τι θα εκτυλίσσετο εκεί. 

The final 4th phase of the Hellenic Viper Ribs Championship 2011 was held successfully in  Athens (Nea Makri) on the weekend of October 1st and 2th. These races offered the last chance for each of the competing crews to either upgrade or secure their position in the Championship by succeeding a victory in this particular event. This intensified the thrill so I came to witness what was about to be unfolded there by myself.  

Ο οργανωτής του διήμερου αγώνα οι Sea Hawks Rib Club Athens έκαναν μια πολύ καλή και ολοκληρωμένη δουλειά στην διαχείριση με το να κρατήσουν το πρόγραμμα όπως έπρεπε και να μην αφήσουν περιθώρια για να προκύψουν δύσκολες καταστάσεις παρόλο που η κατάσταση της θάλασσας κάθε άλλο παρά ιδανική ήταν. Στα ανοικτά του νότιου Ευβοϊκού κόλπου έπνεαν άνεμοι εντάσεως 6 μποφώρ και έτσι οι οργανωτές μετακίνησαν την έδρα των αγώνων στον υπήνεμο όρμο του Σχινιά όπου ο κυματισμός ήταν πολύ πιο ήπιος. Η εκδήλωση φιλοξενήθηκε στις εγκαταστάσεις του Ναυτικού Ομίλου της Νέας Μάκρης όπου ευρίσκονταν η γλίστρα και ο χώρος υποδοχής των σκαφών (Park Ferme). 

The Sea Hawks Rib Club Athens, the organizer of this two day racing event did a thoroughly  good management job by keeping everything on schedule and on track  and by not allowing any difficult situation to emerge even though the sea conditions were far from optimal. In the open sea of South Evoikos gulf the wind was blowing at an intensity of 6 beaufort so the organizers moved the racing terrain towards the leeward bay of Schinias where the wave activity was much less. The event was hosted in the installations of Nautical Club of Nea Makri where the slip and the Park Ferme were situated.

Το μόνο αδύνατο σημείο της οργάνωσης ήταν η περιορισμένη προσέλευση των θεατών οι οποίοι σε αντίθεση με το περυσινό αντίστοιχο συμβάν ήταν λιγότεροι. Επίσης, συγκρίνοντας το με τις δύο προηγούμενες αγωνιστικές αυτού του Πρωταθλήματος, στην Ρόδο και στα Χανιά, παρατήρησα ότι περισσότερος κόσμος παρακολούθησε τους αγώνες εκεί. Κατά την γνώμη μου αυτό κατά μέρος μπορεί να αποδοθεί στο γεγονός ότι η έδρα των αγώνων απομακρύνθηκε από την πιο πληθυσμιακή περιοχή της Νέας Μάκρης (εκεί που έγινε πέρυσι) και κατά μέρος στη έλλειψη πιο ισχυρής προβολής των αγώνων.

The only weak spot in the organization was the limited appearance of spectators who in contrast to the last year similar event  were fewer. Also comparing to  the two earlier phases of this Championship, in Rhodes and in Chania I saw more public following the races there. On my opinion this can be partly attributed to the fact that the racing terrain was taken away from the populated area of Nea Makri (held there last year) and partly to the lack of a stronger promotion.

Οι πρωταγωνιστές αυτών των αγώνων ήταν ο Γιάννης Λούλης μαζί με τον συνοδηγό του Παναγιώτη Σημαιοφορίδη οι οποίοι επέστρεψαν στις νίκες μετά από μια πτώση στα Χανιά παίρνοντας την πρώτη θέση στο αγώνα Offshore και την τρίτη στο αγώνα  Circuit. Στην διάρκεια της πρώτης ημέρας έλαβε χώρα ο αγώνας Circuit καλύπτοντας μια συνολική απόσταση 13 ν. μιλίων (μια τριγωνική διαδρομή 1.3 ν. μιλίου που ολοκληρώνεται σε 10 γύρους).

O Κτιστάκης και ο Παπουτσάκης κέρδισαν την πρώτη θέση στο αγώνα Circuit.  Ktistakis and Papoutsakis won the first place in the Circuit race

The protagonists of these races were Giannis Loulis and co driver Panagiotis Simeophoridis who returned to victories after a plunge in Chania by winning the fist place in the Offshore race and the third in the Circuit one. During the first day (October 1st) the Circuit race took place covering a total distance of 13n. miles (1.3 n mile triangular course completed in 10 rounds).

Μποτζολάκης και Χαραλαμπάκης: Δεύτεροι νικητές και στους δύο αγώνες - Botzolakis and Charalambakis: Second winners in both races

 Όταν ο αλυτάρχης Χρήστος Γκάτσος έδωσε το σινιάλο η κατηγορία Sport Rib 200hp εκκίνησε πρώτη με τον Μανώλη Κτιστάκη και τον συνοδηγό του Γεώργο Παπουτσάκη να εκμεταλλεύονται πλήρως το πλεονέκτημα του ελαφρύτερου σκάφους τους Top Line R21 (No 7) κατακτώντας την πρώτη θέση. Την  δεύτερη θέση κέρδισε το Sea Quest 760 (No 14) του Στέργου Γιαννά και του Μιχάλη Σιφονιού ενώ οι τρίτοι νικητές ήταν ο Στέργος Καραβόλιας και ο Μιχάλης Κύρης οδηγώντας ένα παρόμοιο σκάφος (Νο 10).

When the event leader Christos Gatsos gave the signal the Sport Rib 200hp class started first with Manolis Ktistakis and co driver George Papoutsakis taking full advantage of their lighter Top Line R21 (No 7) so to win the first place. The second place was taken by the Sea Quest 760 (No 14)  of Stergos Giannas and Michalis Siphonios while the third winner were Stergos Karavolias and Michalis Kyris driving a similar boat (No 10).

Περισσότερη ένταση εκτυλίχθηκε στη κατηγορία Extra Sport 350hp για την δεύτερη και τρίτη θέση εφόσον ο Νίκος Καραγιαννόπουλος και ο Τάκης Γεωργιάδης με το Apache 23 (Νο 4) πήραν κεφάλι από τον πρώτο γύρο και διατήρησαν την προπορεία μέχρι το τέλος. Ο Ηρακλής Μποτζολάκης και ο Μιχάλης Χαραλαμπάκης επιχείρησαν να κυνηγήσουν τον Καραγιαννόπουλο μέχρι του σημείου όπου τους συνέβη τετακέ δίνοντας το πλεονέκτημα στο Scorpion 850 ST των Γρηγόρη Οικονόμου και Δήμου Δερτιλή να προωθηθούν   στην δεύτερη θέση για λίγο.

More suspense was unfolded in the Extra Sport 350 hp class for the second and third place since Nikos Karagiannopoulos and Takis Georgiadis with their Apache 23 (No 4) took head from the first round and maintained their lead up to the finish. Heracles Bontzolakis and Michalis Charalambakis tried to challenge Karagiannopoulos with their Olympic 820 (No 12) up to  the point they lost traction giving the advantage to the Scorpion ST 850 (No 2)  of Grigoris Economou and Dimos Dertilis to advance second for a while.

Όμως ο Μποτζολάκης ξαναπέρασε δεύτερος διατηρώντας την θέση αυτή μέχρι το τερματισμό ενώ τελικά το Technohull 777 των Γιάννη Λούλη και του Παναγιώτη Σημαιοφορίδη που έκανε την επίθεση προσπέρασε τον  Οικονόμου και πήρε την τρίτη θέση. Αυτή είναι η μόνη φορά στο Πρωτάθλημα που ο Οικονόμου και ο Δερτιλής έμειναν εκτός τριάδας.

However, Bontzolakis regained the second place and secured it up to the finish while eventually Economou was overtaken by the Technohull 777 (No 13) of Giannis Loulis and Panagiotis Simeophoridis who took the offensive and won the third place. This was the only time in this Championship that Economou and Dertilis were thrown away from the podium.

Την δεύτερη ημέρα στο αγώνας Offshore 50 ν. μιλίων (διαδρομής 5 ν. μιλίων που ολοκληρώνεται σε 10 γύρους) οι οργανωτές έφεραν ελικόπτερο για εναέριες φωτογραφίες. Ο αγώνας αυτός  διεξήχθει σε μια κυματώδη θάλασσα της τάξης των 4+ μποφώρ δίνοντας το πλεονέκτημα στα μεγαλύτερα σκάφη. Έτσι στην κατηγορία Sport Rib τα Seaquest 760 των Στέργου Γιαννά - Μιχάλη Σιφωνιού και Στέργου Καραβόλια - Μιχάλη Κύρη κέρδισαν την πρώτη και δεύτερη θέση αντίστοιχα ενώ το μικρότερο Top Line R21 του Μανώλη Κτιστάκη και Γιώργου Παπουτσάκη αναγκαστικά ακολούθησε μετά.

The second day the organizers brought a helicopter in order to obtain airborne images of the 50 mile Offshore race (5 n. mile triangular course completed in 10 rounds). This race took place at a choppy sea of 4+ beaufort giving the advantage to the bigger boats. So, in the Sport Rib class  the Seaquests 760 of Stergos Giannas - Michalis Siphonios and Stergos Karavolias - Michalis Kyris won the first and second places respectively while the smaller Top Line R21 of Manolis Kistakis and George Papoutsakis had to finish after. 

Το Olympic του Μποτζολάκη σε τετακέ - The Olympic of Bontzolakis losing traction

Εξαιτίας των δύσκολων συνθηκών της θάλασσας τα σκάφη του Καραγιαννόπουλου και του Σταύρου Λουλουργά (Technohull 888 - No 5) υπέστησαν ζημιές και εγκατέλειψαν τον αγώνα ενώ το Technohull 777 του Γιάννη Λούλη και του Παναγιώτη Σημαιοφορίδη κατόρθωσε να πάρει την νίκη στη κατηγορία Extra Sport παρά ένα πρόβλημα στο ηλεκτρικό σύστημα που δυσκόλευε το τιμόνι. Την δεύτερη θέση πήραν ο Μποτζολάκης με τον Χαραλαμπάκη και την τρίτη ο Οικονόμου και ο Δερτιλής. Ο Βαγγέλης Σέρρας με συνοδηγό τον Βαγγέλη Αποστολόπουλο τερμάτισαν με το Smart Rib (No 3)   τέταρτοι. 

Due to the  difficult sea conditions the boats of Karagiannopoulos and Stavros  Loulourgas (Technohull 888 - No 5) suffered damages and abandoned  the race while the Technohull 777 of Loulis - Simeophoridis managed to take the victory in Extra Sport class regardless of an electrical problem in the steering system. The second place was taken by Bontzolakis and Charalambakis and the third by Economou and Dertilis. Vaggelis Serras with co driver Vaggelis Apostolopoulos driving their Smart Rib (No 3) finished after.

Ο Γρηγόρης Οικονόμου και Δήμος Δερτιλής είναι το πιο σταθερό σε νίκες πλήρωμα στην διάρκεια αυτού του Πρωταθλήματος και συνολικά έχουν συγκεντρώσει τους περισσότερους βαθμούς από όλα τα άλλα πληρώματα και γιαυτό θα ανακηρυχθούν πρωταθλητές στη κατηγορία Extra Sport 350hp στην διάρκεια του Ναυτικού Σαλονιού της Αθήνας (22 Οκτωβρίου, 7:00 μμ) στο περίπτερο της Viper Ribs, του μεγάλου χορηγού του Πρωταθλήματος. Ομοίως, ο Μανώλης Κτιστάκης και ο Γιώργος Παπουτσάκης θα ανακηρυχθούν πρωταθλητές στην κατηγορία Sport Rib 200hp επίσης εκεί όπου το φετινό Πρωτάθλημα θα τελειώσει επίσημα.

Grigoris Economou and Dimos Dertilis are the most consistent in victories crew during this Championship and on aggregate they score the highest points above all other crews and thus they will be named  Champions in the Extra Sport 350hp class in the award ceremony which will take place during the Athens Boat Show (October 22th, 19:00) at the Viper Ribs stand, the Championship great sponsor. Similarly, Manolis Ktistakis and George Papoutsakis will be named Champions in the Sport Rib 200hp class also there where this year’s Championship will be officially closed.
