Πανελλήνιο Πρωτάθλημα Φουσκωτών Σκαφών 2013: Χανία - Hellenic Rib Race Championship 2013: Chania

 Η δεύτερη αγωνιστική του Πανελληνίου Πρωταθλήματος Φουσκωτών Σκαφών έλαβε χώρα στα πανέμορφα Χανιά το Σαββατοκύριακο 21-22 Σεπτεμβρίου κάτω από ένα ηλιόλουστο ουρανό με ένα ευχάριστο και ζεστό καιρό. Οι συνθήκες της θάλασσας στο διάστημα αυτό ήταν ήπιες με κάποια αύξηση της έντασης του ανέμου την δεύτερη ημέρα στην διάρκεια του αγώνα Offshore. Όπως πάντα ήμουν παρών για να παρακολουθήσω το διήμερο γεγονός και να συναντήσω παλιούς φίλους και γνωστούς και ακόμα να καθίσω μερικές μέρες παραπάνω σ’ αυτό το καταπληκτικό μέρος.

 The second phase of the Hellenic Rib Race Championship took hold at the wonderful Chania, Crete on the weekend 21-22 September under a sunny sky and a pleasant and warm weather. The water conditions during those days were mild with some increase in the wind intensity the second day during the Offshore race. As, always, I was present there to attend the 2 day event and meet many old friends and fellows and even more to enjoy some extra free days in this amazing place.

 Ο αγώνας Circuit ο οποίος διεξήχθει, αυτή την φορά, στο λιμάνι της Σούδας ξεκίνησε γύρω στις 16:00 το Σάββατο με την κατηγορία Sport Rib 200hp να εκκινεί πρώτη. Τέσσερα σκάφη διαγωνίστηκαν στον αγώνα και από την αρχή το Apache 696 (No 9) των Βασίλη Καλοτεράκη και Απόστολου Πολύμερου πήρε κεφάλι ενώ το Attack 600 (No 5) των Κυρίακου Αγγελάκη και Γιώργου Κουρασμενάκη προσπάθησε να τους προσεγγίσει σ’ όλη την διάρκεια του αγώνα. Όμως, προς το τέλος αυτής της αναμέτρησης και στην προσπάθεια τους να επιδιώξουν την πρωτιά το σκάφος τους αναποδογύρισε στην στροφή επιφέροντας την άμεση διακοπή του αγώνα από τους οργανωτές, χωρίς βέβαια τα άλλα σκάφη να ολοκληρώσουν τους προβλεπόμενους γύρους μέχρι τον τερματισμό. 

 The Circuit race which took place, this time, at the harbor of Souda started around 16:00 hours on Saturday with the Sport Rib 200hp class to begin first. Four boats were competing in the race and from the start the Apache 696 (No 9) of Vassilis Kaloterakis and Apostolos Polymeros took the lead while the Attack 600 (No 5) of Kyriakos Aggelakis and George Kourasmenakis tried to chase they all along the course of the race. However, at the final part of this competition and in their attempt to pursue the first place their boat capsized during turning triggering the immediate interruption of the race by the organizers, without allowing the other boats to complete the scheduled number of rounds to the finish. 

Η επιχείριση περισυλλογής ήταν άμεση και αποτελεσματική και το πλήρωμα μεταφέρθηκε στην προβλήτα με ασφάλεια και χωρίς τραυματισμούς. Σύμφωνα  με τους κανονισμούς των αγώνων οι νικητές καθορίζονται κατά την σειρά της αντίστοιχης κατάταξής τους πριν το συμβάν και έτσι οι Βασίλης Καλοτεράκης και Απόστολος Πολύμερος κέρδισαν την πρώτη θέση. Η δεύτερη θέση πήγε στους Στέργο Γιαννά και Μιχάλη Σιφονιό οι οποίοι διαγωνίζονταν με το Seaquest 760 (No 6) ενώ οι Μανώλης Κτιστάκης και Πάρης Διακοφιλιππής αναδείχθηκαν οι τρίτοι νικητές με το Top Line R21.  

 The rescue effort was fast and efficient and the crew was brought back to the dock safe and uninjured. According to the racing regulations the winners are announced in accordance to their corresponding order right before the incident  and so Vassilis Kaloterakis and Apostolos Polymeros won the first place. The second place was taken by Stergos Giannas and Michael Siphonios who were competing with their Seaquest 760 (No 6) while Manolis Ktistakis and Paris Diakophilippis were the third winners with their Top Line R21.

 Αμέσως μετά εκκίνησε η κατηγορία Extra Sport 350hp με το Apache 23 των Νίκου Καραγιαννόπουλου και Θεόκτιστου Γεωργιάδη να περνά πρώτο διατηρώντας την θέση αυτή πάνω από τα μισά του αγώνα. Δυστυχώς, λόγω κάποιας μηχανικής βλάβης έχασαν πολύ χρόνο με συνέπεια να μην μπορέσουν να διεκδικήσουν μια θέση στην τριάδα. Στο τελικό τμήμα του αγώνα υπήρξε έντονος ανταγωνισμός ανάμεσα στα δύο Olympic 820 των Ηρακλή Μποτζολάκη και Μιχάλη Χαραλαμπάκη (Νο 2) και των Σταύρου Λουλουργά και Τριαντάφυλλου Κενενούνη (Νο 1). Τελικά οι πρώτοι σφράγισαν την νίκη τους ενώ την τρίτη θέση κατέκτησε το Technohull 777 (Νο 3)των  Παναγιώτη και Σταύρου Σημαιοφορίδη. 

 Right after, the Extra Sport 350hp class started with the Apache 23 of Nikos Karagiannopoulos and Theoktistos Giorgiadis to take the lead and maintain it for over the half part of the racing. Unfortunately, due to an engine failure they lost too much time to claim a place in the podium. In the final part of the race the competition became very intense between the two Olympic 820 of Heracles Bontzolakis and Michael Charalabakis (No 2)  and of Stavros Loulourgas and Triantaphyllos Kenenounis (No 1). Finally, the first sealed their victory while the third place was taken by the Technohull 777 (No 3) of Panagiotis and Stavros Simeophoridis.

 Την επόμενη ημέρα ο αγώνας Offshore έλαβε χώρα έξω από το γραφικό παλαιό λιμάνι των Χανίων με όλα τα αγωνιστικά σκάφη να ξεκινούν μαζί. Οι καιρικές συνθήκες δημιουργούσαν δυσκολίες στα πληρώματα που αντιμετώπιζαν μεγάλα κύματα με συνέπεια 3 σκάφη να υποστούν ζημιές και να εγκαταλείψουν. Τελικά, τις πρώτες θέσεις πήραν οι Σταύρος Λουλουργάς και Τριαντάφυλλος Κενενούνης και οι Στέργος Γιαννάς και Μιχάλης Σιφωνιός για τις κατηγορίες Extra Sport και Rib Sport αντίστοιχα.

 The next day the Offshore race was held outside the picturesque old harbor of Chania with all the racing boats to start together. The weather conditions were challenging for the crews as they faced big waves resulting in damages and withdrawals for 3 of the boats. Eventually the first places were taken by Stavros Loulourgas and Trantaphyllos kenenounis and by Stergos Giannas and Michael Siphonios for the Extra Sport and Rib Sport categories respectively.

 Επιπλέον, στην κατηγορία Extra Sport την δεύτερη θέση έλαβαν οι Βαγγέλης Σέρρας και Γιώργος Δρόσος (Olympic 820 No 4) και την τρίτη το Apache 23 (No 8) των Νίκου Καραγιαννόπουλου και Θεόκτιστου Γεωργιάδη. Ομοίως, στην κατηγορία Sport Rib οι δεύτεροι νικητές ήταν οι Βασίλης Καλοτεράκης και Απόστολος Πολύμερος, ενώ την τρίτη θέση έλαβαν για ακόμα μια φορά οι Μανώλης Κτιστάκης και Πάρης Διακοφιλιππής. 

 Also, in the Extra Sport class the second place was succeeded by the Vagellis Serras and George Drossos (Olympic 820  No 4) and the third by the Apache 23 (No 8) of Nikos Karagiannopoulos and Theo Georgiadis. Similarly, in the Sport Rib class the second winners were Vassilis Kaloterakis and Apostolos Polymeros while the third place was taken once again by Manolis Ktistakis and Paris Diakophilippis. 

 Επιπρόσθετα, στον αγώνα αυτό το δικινητήριο Top Line Corsair 31 των Κώστα Γραμματικάκη και Παρασκευά Φιλίππου, και οι δύο νικητές από τα παλιά, κατέκτησε την πρώτη θέση στην κατηγορία Overall εφόσον τερμάτισε πρώτο στον αγώνα.

 Moreover, during this race the two engine  Top Line Corsair 31 of Kostas Grammatikakis and Paraskevas Philippou, both all time winners, took the first place in the Overall category since it was the first boat to finish the  race. 

 

 Αυτή η διήμερη διοργάνωση ήταν πολύ καλά οργανωμένη και διεξήχθηκε ομαλά χάριν στην προσεγμένη δουλειά των αλυταρχών Στέφανου Βενετάκη και Γιώργου Κελαιδή και βέβαια όλων των άλλων μελών της πολύ δραστήριας Λέσχης Φουσκωτών Σκαφών Χανίων, του  οργανωτή του εγχειρήματος. Οι τοπικές αρχές, ο Δήμος Χανίων και το Λιμεναρχείο επίσης συνέβαλαν στην επιτυχή έκβαση των αγώνων και επιπλέον αρκετοί χορηγοί υποστήριξαν και χρηματοδότησαν τις προσπάθειες των οργανωτών. Επίσης, η φιλοξενία στο ξενοδοχειακό συγκρότημα Iolida Beach 5* ήταν πολύ ευχάριστη αποτελώντας ένα ακόμα θετικό στοιχείο πίσω από την επιτυχημένη διοργάνωση.

This two day event was very well organized and carried out smoothly due to the diligent works of the event leaders Stefanos Venetakis and George Kelaidis and of course all the other members of the very active Chania Rib Club the event organizer. The local authorities, the municipality of Chania and the coast guard also contributed to the successful outcome of the races and additionally many sponsors supported and financed  the organizer’s efforts. Also, the hospitality of the 5*  Hotel Ioalida Beach was warm and pleasant being an extra asset behind the successful organizing.
