 Θυμάμαι ότι ήταν προς το τέλος του Ιανουαρίου 2009 όταν επισκέφτηκα το εργοστάσιο της αυστριακής εταιρείας κατασκευής κινητήρων Steyr Motors. Εκεί έτυχα της πολύ ευγενικής υποδοχής  από τον διευθυντή πωλήσεων κ. Hubert Boxletiner που με ξενάγησε στις εγκαταστάσεις του εργοστασίου και μου έδειξε λεπτομερώς την διαδικασία παραγωγής των κινητήρων diesel που προορίζονται ως δυνάμεις πρόωσης για τις ναυτικές εφαρμογές και τα ειδικά οχήματα. Φέτος, η Steyr Motors γιορτάζει 10 χρόνια επιτυχημένης και πρωτοποριακής παραγωγής σ’ αυτήν την πρόσφατη φάση της μακριάς εταιρικής της ιστορίας που έχει τις ρίζες της στον 19ο αιώνα. 

  I remember it was during the late January 2009 when I visited the factory of the Austrian engine manufacturer Steyr Motors. Then I had be given a cordial touring in the factory’s premises by mr Hubert Boxleitner the company sales manager who showed me in detail the production process of these diesel engines destined to work as reliable propulsion sources for the marine industry and  the special vehicle applications. This year Steyr Motors celebrates 10 year of successful and innovative engineering  in this recent phase of company’s long history that dates back to the 19^th century. 

 Η Steyr Motors διακρίνεται για την αφοσίωση της στην καινοτομία και την δυνατότητα των κινητήρων της να δουλεύουν σε αντίξοα περιβάλλοντα ενώ η τεχνολογία monobloc προσφέρει πιο ενισχυμένη αλλά και πιο ελαφριά κατασκευή. Αυτά τα δέκατα γενέθλια εορτάστηκαν με τους πελάτες, προμηθευτές, συνεργάτες και φίλους στην πόλη Steyr όπου εδρεύει η εταιρεία μαζί με μια επίλεκτη λίστα προσκεκλημένων από τα μεγάλα ονόματα στο χώρο της μηχανολογίας. Η εκδήλωση σηματοδοτήθηκε από το επίσημο δείπνο στο πρώην μοναστήρι του Sankt Florian όπου όλοι οι καλεσμένοι έλαβαν ένα καλό δείγμα της αυστριακής παράδοσης και ιστορίας.

 Steyr Motors stands for its quest for innovation and the ability of its diesel engines to perform in harsh environments while its monobloc technology enables for robust but light configurations. This 10 year birthday was celebrated with customers, suppliers, partners & friends in the city of Steyr at the company’s premises together with a selective list of guests, international names of engineering. The event was highlighted by the gala dinner in the former monastery of Sankt Florian where all guests experienced a good piece of  austrian tradition and history.

STEYR MOTORS: where the past meets the future!

STEYR MOTORS, the innovative and dynamic Diesel engine manufacturer from Austria, is proudly looking back at 10 years full of innovation and success! The birthday-year 2011 was celebrated together with customers, suppliers, partners & friends in Steyr at the company’s premises.

The guest list was full of well-known local, national and international names: Gerhard Wölfel (CEO of BMW Motorenwerke GmbH), Rudolf Lohberger (President of

the Austrian Chamber of Commerce), Gerhard Hackl (Mayor of the city of Steyr) and many more from all around the globe celebrated together and looked back at the stepstones of STEYR MOTORS. Even though the foundation of STEYR MOTORS itself dates back to 2001, the history of the engineering and production of Diesel engines in Steyr goes back to the 19th century. The origin of the M1 engine lies within the former Steyr Daimler Puch AG (SDP), when the SDP bought the license for the M1 from AVL in 1976.

While the morning was spent on different tours to Steyr Mannlichers weaponry factory, the Magna Engineering Center Steyr and its test range, and Steyr’s city centre, the afternoon was spent at the premises of STEYR MOTORS. The official speeches by politicians and personalities of Austria’s economy were spiced up by the speech of the worldwide famous Diesel engine expert Dr. Franz X. Moser, who elaborated the history of the M1 engine from its beginning until today.

The guests were able to experience an important piece of Austrian history during the gala dinner in the famous former monastery of Sankt Florian. After a concert by the Sankt Florianer Choir Boys with the wunderkind Alois Mühlbacher the evening was spent with culinary delights and interesting talks with people from different branches and from all around the world!

All in all this day of celebration showed that STEYR MOTORS can proudly look back at ten years of successful engineering and Diesel engine production. The company is already working to secure its pioneering role in the field of Diesel engines for marine and special vehicle applications with exciting innovations, some of which will be publicly presented already in 2011 – the past was outstanding, but the future will be revolutionary!!!
